Gorkhas are Nepalese basically. They have been demanding this to keep their Nepalese identity intact. They have thus called on a bandh and have brought tourism there to a virtual standstill.

They might have their own reasons but they are affecting the tourism industry thereby affecting the economy. The travel and tourism industry has immense potential and is on longer seasonal or depending on season. So, it is a good opportunity for the tourists to visit other places in India, especially south India.
